The Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust has marked a significant milestone in the first year of its Satya Scholarship Program, selecting 128 students, exceeding its initial target of 100 scholars and awarding scholarships worth over ₹1 crore. This merit-cum-means based Scholarship Program aims to support deserving students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds with a focus on girl students. In the inaugural cohort, girls constitute over 60% of the selected scholars, reinforcing the program’s mission to promote equity, and empower young women to pursue their academic and professional aspirations.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, President, Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, said, “We welcome the first batch of Satya Scholars as the program moves forward with a clear focus on expanding access to quality education, particularly for girl students. Our objective is to ensure that financial constraints do not limit academic potential and that deserving students can achieve academic excellence and pursue their aspirations. We firmly believe education is a powerful catalyst for social progress and equitable growth, and we will continue to scale the program to support 400 scholars annually as we work towards a more inclusive future.”

The Satya Scholarship Program supports students pursuing undergraduate and integrated master’s programs in commerce, engineering and medical streams at selected 38 institutes in Ludhiana. The scholarship covers 100% of the annual course fee, as per the institute’s fee structure, for the entire duration of the course. Additionally, hostel and mess expenses are provided to students studying away from their hometowns. Upon graduation and gainful employment, Satya Scholars are encouraged to voluntarily support at least one student at the school or college level on an ongoing basis and to plant five trees annually in their mother’s name, nurturing a culture of giving back and creating a long-term social impact.
