Ludhiana, August 19, 2017 (Tarvinder Kaur): The final day of “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program” at GGNIMT in association with RCED and Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India concluded with expert talks here today. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT welcomed Gursharan Singh Narula, President, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa Educational council, guests and experts.

S.S. Rekhy, Senior Manager, District Industries Centre was the first speaker of the day. He sensitized the students about the requirements to be met for registration of industrial units. He also highlighted the benefits of being a registered unit in terms of getting financial assistance, settlement of disputes and entitlement of special allowances. He explained in detail the process of RTI. he shared the benefits of Market Development Assistance and Technology up gradation facilities Schemes.

Manpreet Singh Grewal, Member Kissan Club shared the formation and objective of setting up Kisan Club with the students. He elaborated in detail the challenges faced by the agro entrepreneurs. He exhorted that marketing and brand image played a significant role in success of a venture.

A few farmers from the Kissan club then shared their work experience. Nirmal Singh, a farmer said that Agro Industry can be very rewarding but ‘growing’ alone was not enough and one must look for avenues in food processing also for better income generation.

Kundan Lal, Asst. Director, MSME explained that the MSME department deals with policy matters relating to the MSME sector and formulates schemes for the development of the sector. He encouraged the students to get rid of the fear of failure, as this was the biggest hurdle on the road leading to success. He added that a sound academic base is needed for a strong foundation that helped a budding entrepreneur to grasp practical application easily. He advised the students to discover their vision, explore ideas while in the college, and be battle ready to pursue the challenging and highly rewarding path of entrepreneurship.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT presided over the Certificate distribution ceremony. He congratulated the Entrepreneurship Club for organizing this program. He hoped that the awareness program would have helped the students to be clear about their goals and vision, and would enable them to take small but sure steps on the road to entrepreneurship. He advised students to experience business and industry, while in campus, as this would help them create synergies for success. He then proposed a vote of thanks to the Guests, Resource Persons, Faculty and the participants. He assured the students that GGNIMTs Entrepreneurship Club would enable the students to start their new ventures under the mentorship of Industry experts and Consultants.

Gurpreet Singh,a BCA student felt, that the two day program had helped him to understand the basics of startups. Another participant Kashish of B.com 5th sem, who always wanted to join his family business, hoped the inputs shared would contribute in diversifying his family business.
