Dr. Shabnam Sidhu receiving Young Scientist Award for her research work at Indian VETopia 2017
Ludhiana, June 16, 2017 (Manisha Sharma): Two students, Dr. Shabnam Sidhu and Dr. Kirandeep Kaur Gill of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana bagged Young Scientist Award for their research work in Cardiology and Surgery, respectively. Dr. Arun Anand, Associate Professor, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur Gill, MVSc student, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology and Dr. Shabnam Sidhu, Phd scholar, Department of Veterinary Medicine, participated in Indian VETopia 2017 at Gurgaon organized by National Veterinary Foundation.

Dr. Shabnam Sidhu won the award for her master’s research on “Common Cardio my opathies (Heart related diseases) in Dogs: diagnosis and the therapeutic management” under the supervision of Dr. S K Uppal, HoD, Department of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kirandeep Kaur Gill was awarded for her research paper on “Evaluation of end threaded intramedullary pinning for the stabilization of distal metaphyseal and supracondylar femoral fractures in dogs” (Fractured bone treatment of dogs), a part of her master’s research supervised by Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology.

Dean College of Veterinary Science, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar congratulated the students on this achievement.

Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies, informed that quality research is being carried out at GADVASU and currently it is rated among the best veterinary universities in India. “The department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery are doing excellent work in the field of small animal practice”, he added.
